Pricing a WinterBefore It Falls.

5 winters

of Edmonton snowfall behind every seasonal price

Commercial snow contracts are sold in the fall and paid for all winter, so the price has to be right before a single storm. We built an Edmonton commercial snow removal contractor a quoting tool that prices a season from what Edmonton winters actually do.

The story

The Price Comes Before the Snow.

A property manager wants a seasonal number in the fall. The contractor has to commit to it without knowing how many times the crew will be out — and a wrong guess is paid for every month until spring.

Commercial sites make it harder. A parking lot is cleared by one crew with one set of equipment, the sidewalks by another, and neither is a single tidy shape: lots are split by islands, walkways run along two frontages, overflow parking sits across the access road.

What we built

Measure, Price the Season, Price the Call-Out.

Two kinds of contract, each priced the way the work is actually done.

01

Measure the site

Staff find the property on a satellite map and outline the parking lot and the sidewalks as separate zones — as many as the site needs. AI can suggest a starting outline for each surface, and every corner stays editable.

02

Price the season

A seasonal contract is priced from five winters of measured Edmonton snowfall: how often a storm reaches the depth that triggers a visit, and how many crew-hours a winter really holds. Then it is billed monthly.

03

Price the call-out

A one-off or on-call visit is priced by the hour, scaled by how heavy the snowfall was, with each surface quoted for the crew that clears it. Every quote lands in Jobber as a draft.

Our approach

The Rate CardStays Theirs.

The business edits more than its prices. Staff change both the numbers and the way each service is calculated — per square foot, per hour, per visit or flat — without coming back to us. The tool supplies the measurement and the weather; the contractor stays in charge of what a winter is worth.

Under the hood

Architecture & The Hard Parts.

The real engineering — what the system is built on, and the non-obvious problems that had to be solved to make it hold up in production.

01

A Winter Is Data, Not a Guess

The seasonal price rests on measured snowfall, cross-checked against independent weather records, so the number a property manager signs in the fall reflects what Edmonton winters actually deliver rather than one memorable storm.

02

Two Surfaces, Two Crews

Sidewalks and parking are cleared differently and priced differently. Measuring them separately is what keeps a quote from overcharging the lot or undercharging the walkways.

03

Sites Are Never One Shape

Real commercial sites are islands, frontages and overflow lots. Each surface holds as many zones as the site needs, and drawing stays open so staff can lay them down one after another.

04

Money Can't Come Out Wrong

Every price is recalculated on the server before it goes anywhere, and nonsense input — a stray character, an impossible size — can never turn into a nonsense quote.

Out of respect for our client

We will talk architecture, but the specifics stay private: how this system prices, the rates it runs on, and how it is tuned to this business belong to our client, and we keep them that way. When we build for you, your systems and your numbers get the same discretion.
