Written for owners and managers of established operations — trades, manufacturing, energy services, field service, property — not for developers.
The test each item has to pass is whether it would change what you do this week. If a month produces nothing that clears that bar, the issue is shorter rather than padded.

How Often Does Field Notes Go Out?
Monthly. Each issue is written from work that actually happened that month rather than assembled from a content calendar, which is also why it is short. If there is nothing worth an operator's time in a given month, we would rather say less than pad it.

Can I Read It Before Subscribing?
Every issue is on this page in full, free, with no email required. The archive is deliberately open — asking for an address before showing you the writing is a way of avoiding being judged on the writing.
