Map the sequence before automating it
Writing down what actually happens — including the exceptions and the informal steps — usually removes a few steps before any software is built. Automating a bad process just makes it faster.

Each automation runs off a real event in your systems, performs the steps, and records what it did against the relevant record, so there is a trail rather than a mystery.

Anything the automation is not confident about stops and asks. A process that quietly guesses when it is unsure is worse than one that never ran.
We map first and automate second, because the mapping is where most of the value shows up. It is common to find two or three steps in a sequence that exist only because an old system could not do something, and deleting them beats automating them every time.
Where AI is part of it, it does the reading, drafting and classifying — and a person still approves anything that reaches a customer or moves money. That line is not a limitation of the technology; it is how a business keeps the ability to defend what went out under its name.

Is This the Same as Zapier or Make?
For simple two-step connections, those tools are genuinely the right answer and we will say so. Custom automation earns its place when the sequence has branching, real business rules, error handling that matters, or volume that makes per-task pricing expensive — and when a broken automation needs to be diagnosable rather than mysterious.
What Happens When Something Goes Wrong Mid-Sequence?
It stops and it tells someone, with enough context to pick it up by hand. Partial completion is the dangerous state in any automated sequence, so it is designed for rather than discovered.
Will Our Staff Lose Their Jobs?
